Synthesis of the teaching of Omilos Eksipiretiton and human sciences: presentations at a scientific conference in Keele University, England

The 5th Annual Counselling Psychology Conference is going to take place on 25th to 27th March 2011, by the Psychology Department of Keele University, England. The conference theme is, “Intimate Encounters: Reflections on Counseling Practice, Theory and Research”.

This year’s conference is centered on the theme of intimacy within the psychotherapeutic procedure as it is reflected in counseling practice, theory and research, bringing together science, philosophical thought and inner knowledge.

Members of Omilos are going to participate in the conference. These members are psychologists who are being continually helped in their lives by the teaching of Omilos. Thus, they are going to present, with two paper presentations, how they manage to synthesize the teaching of Omilos with scientific knowledge in their everyday practice when dealing with people asking for help for various psychosocial difficulties.

The first presentation will address the basic principles of the teaching of Omilos, and how, by integrating these principles in their psychotherapeutic approach and practice, the therapists acquire a firm inner position through which they are able not only to help the patient but also help themselves to deal with any kind of difficulties arising from frustration in their work.

The second presentation will be centered on “chorodromena” as they have been taught by the Master of Omilos, Dimitris Kakalidis. Τhe therapeutic encounter between ourselves and others can take place through specific movements that balance the energies within us, are performed in groups, and they always refer to the potential and breadth that we all have within ourselves.
