Our New Year celebration! – 28 January 2023
A celebration unlike any other was Omilos this year’s celebration for the New Year. A unique celebration. Our guests, about 200 people, started arriving early. Some had called and said: “we’ll come early, we can’t wait to see your place, to meet you”. And of course everyone was able to fit in.
Laughter, kisses, smiles, hugs and glow. Sparkle in everyone’s eyes! Old and new members of Omilos, some brought their friends and family, poets, writers, friends of Omilos we hadn’t met in a long time and those who visit us often. We were all there, in the luminous, all-glowing Omilos.

Among the attendees we can mention the two-time Olympic champion Demosthenes Tabakos, who addressed the event, the editor of the literary magazine “Kelaino” Ms Panagiota Zaloni, Ms Eleni Patsi of the European Publications Centre “Harry Jo Patsi”, the editors of the magazine “Korinthian Horizons”, writers Mr.& Ms. Theodosis and Eleni Kontozoglou, the distinguished writers, poets& painters Mrs. Leta Koutsochera, Mr. Angelos Gontikas, Mr. Spyros Zacharatos, Mr. Vassilis Tsakiroglu, Mrs. Poppy Spita, as well as the internationally renowned singer Nilufer Akbal and many others who honored us with their presence.

In the large hall of Omilos, our new mosaic was waiting covered. The President of Omilos welcomed all those present and then unveiled the mosaic, a creation of Omilos’s group: the glorious sun god Helios on the mosaic, made in just two and a half months, by more than 20 people, with no specialised knowledge, with more than 25 kilos of tesserae, all hand-cut, shone in the eyes of all. But what shone most was the teamwork and the strength in getting everything done. As the President of Omilos said in presenting it ” It’s a group that sets goals, works, achieves them… with the agreements, with the disagreements, with the tensions, with the songs… didn’t it all play a part? (…)”

Greetings from the founding members of The Server’s Society UK Association, from Dr. Takis Fella, owner of Hellenic TV and Mr. Vasilis Panagi, actor-journalist in London, as well as from founding members of our team in Istanbul followed.

This year’s message for the New Year, through the words of Omilos’s President, was perfectly combined with his book that has just been published with the title “…simple isn’t it?”:
“…looking at all the work that has been done, thinking about all the work that has been done, the result of all that we have worked for here… what is it that we have come to understand? What we understood is that everything is simple. Everything is simple if we want to make it happen. Everything is simple if we want to live life right. Many times pople get things confused because we are simply afraid to do things, afraid to live them. So the message of this year for all members, for the whole of Omilos, is… ‘simple isn’t it’?”

We all stayed until late. Some on the upper floors, some on the lower, some in the patio. With more wishes, with more laughter, with more conversations and visions, with an excess of joy and excitement for what has been done and for what is ahead of us to be actualized. Even bigger, even more beautiful and always with simplicity!
At the end of the event, the Vice President of Omilos invited those who wished to speak. The words of those present at the event spoke to the hearts of all of us and for this reason we will share them soon in a separate post, as they deserve!
