The Founder of Omilos

诗人和哲学家Dimitris Kakalidis的诞生 1943 在雅典. A great visionary for the human being and their evolution on all levels, 在 1980 he founded Omilos Eksipiretiton (The Servers’ Society), a school of thought and action, with the aim of actualising this vision. That is to say, for anyone who wants to, to become disciples of the knowledge of the Self with a capital “s”; in that magnificent nature of the human being, which gives them the infinite potential to be well, in balance and union with life and with the others. To “be ecstatic in the passable” and experience the “constant miracle”, as he himself would say. A truth that he possessed and had put into action.

Dimitris Kakalidis的, the Master for those who were disciples close to him, but also for the newer members who are doing a discipleship in the values that he conveyed with his entire stance in life, taught the absolute interest and consideration towards everyone and everything, and the immediate response to any need. A basic element of his practical philosophy was to know thyself, meaning the deep knowledge of the self and the acceptance of all the aspects in the human being. This is why he taught a comprehensive and scientific, we could say, way of studying the self and actualising in everyday life. The objective? For the spiritual nature of every human being to be expressed dynamically so that they can be well.

He himself was a living example to emulate: at every moment in everyday life he actualised his teaching with simplicity and without ever asking for anything for himself. He was present in Omilos every day, giving new elements tirelessly, giving lessons and analyses, having discussions and meetings with esteemed litterateurs, and showing practical ways so that each and every one can live their life beyond fears, anxieties and insecurities. He never refused his help to anyone, and the central point of his teaching and work was primarily the selfless offer to others.

Regarding his literary work, he has received hundreds of rave reviews from the spiritual world of Greece. His poetry is enchanting and intense, it bears the power of the spirit that is working for the redemption of the human being. With his analyses on narratives and poems of Greek litterateurs, devoid of any external critique, he reaches the core of every work and emerges their hidden wisdom. The verses and melodies he composed bring elevation to the soul of the listener.

He was honoured at a great event at the Literary Society “Parnassos” in 1993, where prominent figures of Literature and the Arts, such as the then president of the Literary Society Tasos Anagnostou, and the litterateurs Kostas Papapanou, Nikos Galazis and Michalis Stafilas, talked about his work both in literature and in Omilos.

Presentations of his work have been held by the National Society of Greek Literary Writers and the Panhellenic Union of Writers. His works have been presented at events at the Greek Literary Society, as well as at various academic and cultural institutions, such as The Hellenic Centre and Morley College in London. A speech on “The Universal Messages in the Poetry of Dimitris Kakalidis” won an award at the 22nd World Congress of Poets, and excerpts from his books are still being published in literary magazines and poetic anthologies even today.

Dimitris Kakalidis passed away in 1995. The disciples who were close to him, were taught by him and inspired by his life and his teaching, steadily continue the multifaceted work of Omilos Eksipiretiton and are there every day without fail for anyone who wants to get to know their self and change their life.
