Personal opinion: Angelina Papathanasiou
Every time I read a book of these publications, it is for me a different journey of knowledge and introspection. “The Heart of the Earth” is one of the many books written and published by the author and the second one I read.
It is a completely different book from what I have read so far and I certainly find it hard to put it into a category. There are fourteen short stories in the book, of relatively small length, each one different from the other.
Through her short stories, the author presents the relationship between people and the earth. Through imagination, dreaming and contemplation, the author gives food for thought to her readers and offers them an original reading which aims at improving the relationship between the human being and the environment.
“As an inhabitant and part of the planet, it is natural for the human being to express all their sounds and voices. The mistake is that people identify with some of them and do not tune them all together to reach harmony.”
Reaching the end of each story, the reader is confronted with thoughts that open new ways of vision and action. The texts refer to fears, weaknesses and difficulties that the human being is confronted with on a daily basis. But every problem has its solution, and the author makes sure to bring it out, to lead the readers to the light, to the peace of the soul.
“Do not let such fears dominate you, but direct your body with the power of your mind. It is the mind of tge human being that takes care of the body, just as a father takes care of his child.”
By the end of reading the book, the readers are not free of all the fears and the negative emotions that overwhelm them. But they recognize new ways of acting to resolve their problems and they have taken a small first step towards interpreting the messages their body sends them. They get to know themselves anew and try to bring out the best version of themselves.
Summary: Through the short stories in this book it becomes clear that every human being is confronted with the planetary problem, since in our time it is no longer possible to isolate the personal from the collective. Issues of economics, ecology, problems of crime, paranoia and many others concern all of humanity and therefore each individual as well. The author concludes that the solution to all planetary problems will come when people learn to truly love.
