This year, for the third consecutive time,we participated in person in the 77th International Bookfair in Frankfurt

The books of our publishing house “Megas Seirios Publications” were exhibited in the pavilion of the Greek Ministry of Culture. During the bookfair we had appointments with more than 40 punlishers and literary agents from all over the world!

Great Britain, France, Germany,USA, Canada, Korea,Filippines, China,Japan, Brazil, Scandinavian countries, Turkey,Italy, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates,India, Spain are indicatevely some of the countries we spoke with.

And because time was not enough, we have already set online appointments and meetings to speak with all those we didn’t manage to discuss during the Bookfair, whilst at the same time being in contact with those we have already spoken to proceed with our discussions and collaborations!

In this book, you will find ten short and easy exercises for children, which can be used for a multitude of purposes. For playtime, for relaxation, for addressing matters they might be struggling with. They can be done at any time during the day and as many times as you like.

They are simple and fun exercises, without complicated instructions, which – depending on the age- can even be done by the children on their own, in their free time, when they want to take a break or… simply when it’s raining!

One day, one of the 31,025 days that a person with a life expectancy of 85 years will live. One of the 4,745 days that a dog or cat will live, with a life expectancy of 13 years.

A whole life for a butterfly that emerges from its cocoon in the morning and dies in the everning, having lived everythiing that other species live over the course of years.

A day that is usually routine, as important events do not happen every day. Or do they happen and we don’t notice?

We’ve just received the first book with poems for children from our publishing house, MEGAS SEIRIOS PUBLICATIONS, with poems by Vasiliki Ergazaki and illustrations by Valia Skalomenou!

The book has been published in English under the title “Sun-flutterings”, while we are also expecting the copies of the Greek edition very soon!

The International Cultural Non-Profit Organisation “TO KAFENIO TON IDEON” (The Café of Ideas) held its 41st awards ceremony, where it awarded the golden medals “Alexander the Great” and “Vergina” to eminent entities and personalities of Literature, the Arts, the Sciences, Sports and Contribution to Society, from Greece and from all around the world.

In a beautiful event at the Town Hall of Salamina, Greece, the President of the “Kafeneio ton Ideon”, Mr Dinos Koubatis, distinguished writer, journalist and director, along with his associates, awarded the “Alexander the Great” medal to Omilos, thereby recognising the work Omilos does and its contribution to society.

Mr. Nasos Maniatis, the Secretary of Omilos’ Board of Directors, received the award for Omilos and read the greeting – thank you speech of the President of Omilos, as he himself was unable to attend.

“Good evening to all,

Unfortunately, due to unforeseeable circumstances, I was unable to attend tonight, but I would like to share some thoughts with you.

Omilos Eksipiretiton (The Servers’ Society) has a multifaceted and multifarious activity. We work in many fields and at various levels, always selflessly, but today I would like to focus primarily on our cultural work.

For this reason, at Omilos Eksipiretiton, we work steadily for the establishment and expansion of the Greek culture, showcasing the work of contemporary Greek poets and writers through events we carry out both in Greece and abroad, at which events we not only present their work but, more importantly, we deepen into it, thus bringing out the hidden wisdom that exists in the words and meanings. Mr. Koubatis, in fact, is one of the distinguished spiritual people of our country whose work we have presented.

But the work of older writers has also been featured and continues to be featured through the analyses of their poems and short stories in our books, while at the same time, we are constantly publishing new books, which we are happy to tell you are being translated and distributed worldwide. We have already reached agreements for the exclusive translation and distribution of our books in Arabic for the entire world, for the co-publication of our books with a well-known publisher in India and all of South Asia, and we are also in talks with publishers from the United States and various European countries who are interested in our books.

There is a lot that is happening… We are participating in international conferences, writing academic articles, our method for analysing poetry is being used by teachers in schools, and we give talks and presentations on the Arts, the Sciences and Philosophy.

However, I would like to take a couple of minutes to focus particularly on one of our activities within the scope of Omilos’ selfless offer. And that is our theatrical group. A group that, since the founding of Omilos in 1980, has been preparing and presenting selflessly children’s theatrical performances in institutions, orphanages, children’s hospitals, homes for people with autism, intellectual disabilities, mobility issues, etc. The group goes to those places where children who, for whatever reason, cannot easily access entertainment, setting up an entire theatrical performance, bringing to them the magic of theatre and fairytales, not because we are doing some charity work, but because we see and believe in the inner strength of each child, regardless of the difficulties they may be facing at that particular moment.

So, I would like to greet tonight’s event and thank you for this award, because, in addition to honouring us by recognising the work of Omilos, this institution gives prominence to the work of individuals and entities working for Greek culture and the evolution of the Human Being.

Sunday, 12 May 2024.

We were all there; in Omilos auditorium. Old and new members, friends of Omilos, litterateurs, academics, artists and many more. Some had with her experiences that were more than unique, some had met her once, some knew her only through narratives and from her books.

In an event dedicated to Mrs. Klairi Lykiardopoulou, “our Mrs. Klairi” as she was and still is for us in Omilos. To her life, to her spiritual work for the Human Being & Culture. We were all there to remember, to laugh, to be moved, to learn. For the path of a spiritual person who was love, dedication, devotion, stability, selfless interest in everything, determination, strength, tireless work.

We were all there to illuminate aspects of a spiritual person who structured and consolidated Omilos so that those who came afterwards could step up and carry on. For the work never stops. It continues, it expands, it grows stronger with the most recent example being the spreading of our books abroad and many more.

The President and Vice President of Omilos welcomed us and shared many deeper insights and experiences with Ms. Klairi.

The distinguished speakers gave speeches which were pithy and to the point: Mr. Kostas Karousos, poet and President of the Society of Greek Writers, Ms. Leta Koutsohera poetess-President of the International Foundation G. Koutsohera & L. Strefi Koutsohera. Mrs. Ninon Demetriadou Kabouri, leading actress of opera at the National Opera of Greece and internationally and literary artist, Mr. F. Nikolopoulos, academic, lawyer, secretary of the deanship of the “Parnassos” Foundation and Director of the Open University of Parnassos. Mrs. V. Ergazaki, member of Omilos, poetess-mathematician and Mr. Karystianos, member of Omilos.

Mrs. Klairi is an integral part of the history of Omilos, you cannot separate her from it. And we, feeling her timeless footprint, went back to the past and at the same time forward to the future, tracing her work which is timeless in the present.

This is one of the largest events in the recent years organized by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, at the premises of the Thessaloniki International Exhibition-Helexpo.

During the first day, we participated in the events of the 2nd International Conference of Book Professionals, and at the same time, as part of the B2B Professionals program organized by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture for Greek and foreign publishers, we held numerous meetings with representatives of foreign publishing houses and literary representatives from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and other countries.

In the following days, the meetings continued with a number of publishers and literary representatives from America, Brazil, France, Germany, Mexico, India, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates, who showed great interest in our books and the work of Omilos as a whole, with many proposals and discussions for cooperation.

Special mention should be made to the offer we received for four of our books from the Hanover Square Press publishing house of the HARPERCOLLINS US Group, one of the five largest in the world.

We also had the honour and pleasure of receiving an invitation to participate in the New Delhi International Book Fair in India from the representative of the Ministry of Education of India, in the framework of the fellowship programme there, to meet Indian publishers and explore possible collaborations.

At the Bookfair we met and talked with the Deputy Minister of Culture Mr. Christos Dimas, while we also met the President of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture Mr. Nikos Koukis, with whom we discussed the work of Omilos and expressed to him our congratulations for the excellent organization of the bookfair.

Finally, we had the pleasure of meeting the President of the Sharjah Book Authority, the country of honour at the I.B.F, A.E. Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, founder and CEO of the Kalimat Group, the largest publishing group in the Arab countries, with whom we arranged a meeting to discuss prospects for cooperation.

The Department of Letters of the Ministry of Culture sent us a thank-you letter for the donation of books by our publications MEGAS SEIRIOS PUBLICATIONS to the Library “Andreas Metsios” of the Greek Community in Emilia Romagna.

After each International Book Fair in which we participate, we donate our books to the Greek Community of the region.

So this time, after the 61st International Children’s Book Fair in Bologna, our books were donated to the Greek Community there.
