Our publications participate in the 61st Intaernational Children’s Book Fair in Bologna, 8-11 April 2024!

With great joy we are hosted with our fairy-tale “A line and a dot and a miracle on the spot!” at the pavilion of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. For the second consecutive year we take part in this major international fair which is dedicated to children’ s books!

A captivating musical presentation will take place in London at the Hellenic Centre, 16–18 Paddington Str, on Friday 21/10/2022 at 19:15.

All who love music and the Hellenic culture will have the opportunity to get to know, listen to and enjoy byzantine music in an event titled “Byzantine Music: an Ode to God and its Path through Time”. 

What is byzantine music, where is it used, how does it sound? The presentation aims at bringing this rare and unique music genre which has been heard for centuries in all orthodox churches closer to you and take you on a journey through its history, tradition and mainly its sound with live chanting. 

In our event, with the participation of The Servers’ Society UK Association, some historical elements about byzantine music as a distinctive and vibrant genre of religious music will be presented and, through an interactive experiential workshop, the participants will experience the joy of expression through music and try out their own abilities at chanting!

40 years of Omilos!

This year we are celebrating 40 years of operation for Omilos Eksipiretiton and its work.

Among the celebrations we are organising, we invite you on Sunday, 23rd February at 11:00 to the Greek Literary Society, so we can discover together the hidden wisdom of the poetic word in our event titled: “Revealing the Hidden Wisdom of Poetry”. An analysis of K.P. Kavafis’ poem “God forsakes Anthony”, which we recently presented with great success in England, in coorganization with Morley College London.

We have the honour of the following esteemed persons of the arts greeting our event:

• Mr Kostas Karousos, President of the Greek Literary Society
• Ms Panayiota Zalonis-Christopoulou, member of GLS and editor of the literary magazine “Kelaino”
• Ms  Leta Koutsohera, poetess and painter, and
• Mr Giorgos Kalakallas, sculptor who will present “Kavafis and his portrait”.

The President of Omilos with his speech will introduce us to the Wisdom of the Poem followed by the deepening into Kavafis’ poem by Ms Paraskevi Kostopetrou, poetess, and head of our Literature Workshop and Ms Evangelia Gkioni, member of our Literary Workshop.

In a few days we will be in London for four days filled with action.

Apart from our events at the Hellenic Centre and at Morley College, we will be meeting with the London “group for the study of the self” of Omilos and, continuing the many years of our collaboration, we will also be at the non-profit health centre Women & Health.

Specifically, on 9^thNovember, at Women & Health, the following will take place:

• Spiritual Healing appointments from 1.00 to 5.00 pm
• An Open Discussion Group at 5.00 pm with the subject: “Spiritual Healing in theory and in action”.
• A Creative Meditation after the end of the Open Discussion.

Finally, the centre’s members will be able to arrange personal appointments.

The above activities and events are for everyone who is interested in participating and wants to find out more about the work of Omilos by experiencing in action what Spiritual Healing is and learn, quite simply, how to be well in their lives.

Following our previous successful events at the Hellenic Centre, London, which were also broadcast by the Hellenic TV channel, this November we are holding a new event titled: “With the Songs as our Compass and Tradition as the Captain” – A Voyage in the Seas of Greek Folk Music.

It is  with great joy that we invite you to experience the sounds of Greek folk music in this presentation and the live performance of traditional songs from Greece.

Join us on a journey to the beauties of the Greek countryside and of Asia Minor.

The azure of the skies, the gentle waves of the sea and the cool air of the mountains come alive with “one voice” in a musical night full of colours and melodies.

A musical wander in the simplicity and majesty of Greek folk music.
